Answers Before You Commit
Do I need a credit card for the free tier?
No. Free is free forever with no card required. Choose one exchange (US markets, for example), and you get full browsing across every stock on it — Market Trends, Stock Finder, Contrarian Signals, Earnings Calendar — plus 5 watchlist tickers with full Stock Verdicts. No trial that expires, no commitment of any kind.
What happens after the 14-day Pro trial?
You are billed $29/month on day 15. You can cancel any time before that with one click. No questions, no friction, no cancellation fees.
How is VInvest different from Morningstar or Simply Wall St?
Morningstar and Simply Wall St give you ratings and data. VInvest gives you the answer — specifically, whether you should own this at the current price — and shows you every assumption behind it. Valuation lets you stress-test those assumptions with your own thesis, and the Lab lets you test that thesis with paper money before it’s real. No other retail platform offers that.
Are the intrinsic values reliable?
The Confidence Score is our answer to that question. A score of 90/100 means 11 of 12 checkpoints passed and all five models agreed. A score of 60/100 means something is uncertain — and we tell you exactly what and why. We never give you a number without showing you how much to trust it.
What is Trade?
Trade is a real brokerage account being built into VInvest, powered by Alpaca — launching in about a month. Once live, you’ll buy and sell real shares backed by a strategy you tested in Test In Lab with paper money first, or entirely on your own conviction. Both will work on any Alpaca-tradeable ticker within your chosen exchange(s) — no watchlist commitment required to test or trade. Test In Lab is live today under those same exchange rules, so you can start proving out a strategy right now.
Do I need to watchlist a ticker to Test In Lab or Trade it?
No — Test In Lab today, and Trade once it launches in about a month, are both open to any Alpaca-tradeable ticker inside your chosen exchange(s), watchlisted or not. The Watchlist is where conviction gets tracked over time: it’s what unlocks a full Stock Verdict on Free, and it’s where My Conviction, News, and Investment Memos live at every tier. Testing or trading doesn’t require that commitment — building a documented thesis does.
Is there a limit on how much real money I can trade?
There’s no dollar cap planned for any tier. What scales by plan is how many swaps (opening or closing a position) you get per month: 2 on Free, 5 on Explorer, 10 on Pro, unlimited on Alpha. Test In Lab draws from that same monthly count today; Trade will use the identical allowance once it launches in about a month.
How does choosing an exchange work?
Pick the market(s) you want to research and trade — US (SEC), UK (LSE), Japan (JPX), and 40+ others, covering 43,000+ tickers worldwide. Free gets 1, Explorer 2, Pro 10, Alpha all of them. Every Find Ideas tool (Market Trends, Stock Finder, Contrarian Signals, Earnings Calendar) is fully unlocked across whichever exchanges you’ve chosen — no separate limit there. You can change your exchange selection any time, though switching resets your Watchlist, since tickers you were tracking may fall outside your new selection.
What's a "swap"? What's a "credit"?
A swap is opening or closing a position in Test In Lab (live today) or Trade (~1 month out) — Free includes 2 a month, Explorer 5, Pro 10, Alpha unlimited. A credit is the shared currency behind Rationalist AI queries, deep analyses, and investment memos — available on Pro (100/month) and Alpha (500/month), or top up for $10 when you run out. Free and Explorer don’t include AI credits.
